Volunteering
Fogelman JFS volunteers have several opportunities to work with home bound Jewish seniors: Volunteer Driver for medical appointments/shopping, Kosher Meals delivery, Friendly Visitor, Stay in Touch telephone assurance, and Handy Helper for home chores. We also need volunteers to serve as Drivers with our Inclusion and Diverse Abilities activities, engage seniors in our monthly Shabbat Shalom programs, work on various special projects such as our Fogelman JFS Community Garden, and to work with other MJCC programs and services.
Our most pressing current volunteer needs are:
· Volunteer Driver
· Community Garden Volunteer
· Kosher Home-delivered Meals Volunteer
· Shabbat Shalom Volunteer
Handy Helpers
Volunteers will assist homebound seniors with errands and light chores around the house.
Bikkur Chaverim (Friendly Visitors)
Volunteers regularly visit senior community members in their homes to provide companionship and socialization. Volunteers are needed. Contact Fogelman JFS to request a visit or to volunteer.
Staying in Touch
A volunteer-based program that matches homebound seniors with community volunteers who will regularly contact senior adults via telephone to check on their safety and well-being. In addition, the telephone assurance program can be mobilized in cases of emergency, like natural disaster, to check in on our senior adults.
Fogelman JFS volunteers make a difference, doing meaningful work helping Fogelman JFS staff implement our programs and services. Volunteers can work a regular or intermittent schedule. To find out about sharing your time and talents as a Fogelman JFS Volunteer, please contact Audrey May, Volunteer Coordinator, at 901-767-8511 or amay@jccmemphis.org. We’d love for you to join us!
