Welcome Back to Your JCC

Updated 8/28/20:

We have new procedures in place to ensure the health and safety of our members and staff while at the MJCC.
Below are a few updates to our policy:

  • Members must complete a Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 Form prior to using the facility. Print and complete the form at home to save time, or fill one out after you check in. No electronic copies accepted. One completed form is applicable for all future visits. A green key fob will then be provided and should be with you at all times while you are at the MJCC.
  • While on the MJCC campus, all staff and members (ages 2 and older) are required to wear a mask before exiting their vehicles and remain on in all common areas of the building until they reach their destination and begin their activity. If you choose not to wear a mask, entry into the MJCC will be prohibited.
  • While on the MJCC campus, all staff and members are required to maintain social distancing.
  • Individuals who are high risk are discouraged from using the facility under the current restrictions.

How We’re Keeping You Safe

The MJCC will be following cleaning and sanitization protocol as given by the CDC and Shelby County Health Department. To mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we have established new procedures for both members and staff:

  • Everyone must enter the MJCC through the main entrance.
  • Each day, all members and staff will receive a temperature check and brief verbal health screening before entering the building. Entry will be denied if a temperature of 99.5 or greater is detected. If you leave the premises and return, your temperature must be checked again.
  • Upon entering the building, everyone is required to use the hand sanitizer (located at the Member Services Desk) prior to entry beyond that area.

To help protect each other, please refrain from coming to the MJCC if you:

  • Are displaying any of the following symptoms: coughing, shortness of breath, breathing difficulty, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell.
  • Have been quarantined for or diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
  • Have been in close contact with someone who has displayed any of the above symptoms or been quarantined for or diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • If you have traveled outside of the Greater Memphis Area, you will need to quarantine for 14 days before returning.

If you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, contact your healthcare provider.

What's Available For Use

Virtual Programming
We are constantly compiling virtual resources to help keep you connected to the J during the COVID-19 outbreak. For a list of our virtual resources, go to www.jccmemphis.org/virtual

J Club Plus
Every year, the MJCC has offered our J Club after-school program for children who need a safe and fun place to be after the school day is over while parents are still at work. This year, we recognize that many children will need a place to participate in their school’s virtual learning in addition to the safe and fun experience we offer in J Club. To learn more and enroll, please visit www.jccmemphis.org/jclubplus

Fitness Center
The Fitness Center is open and available for use but operating at partial capacity as is mandated by the City of Memphis. Effective Sunday, August 23, reservations are no longer required for fitness center floor use. We are still requiring advanced reservations for all fitness classes. Should we reach our maximum capacity at any time, you will need to wait until someone leaves to be admitted to the fitness center. We will be closing the fitness center down and requiring everyone to leave the fitness center every two hours for 15 minute intervals for a deep cleaning. For a list these closure times, see our Fitness Center Deep Cleaning Closure Times.

Until further notice, fitness center hours are:
Monday-Thursday: 5:30 am - 8:15 pm
Fridays: 5:30 am - 5:15 pm
Saturdays: 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Sundays: 8:00 am - 5:45 pm

Per best practices recommendations, we are not offering any towel service or use of exercise mats. You must bring your own workout towel. We are not offering any babysitting services and all locker rooms must remain closed at this time. Personal training will be available but please note that this will be “no contact” personal training and your trainer will be required to socially distance from you.

Members are asked to clean their equipment after use.

It is not practical or safe to wear a mask while working out. Please make sure to put your mask back on when your workout is complete and you are ready to leave the fitness center or the fitness studios until you reach your vehicle. We also ask that you leave promptly after you are done with the session for which you signed up so that we can complete our cleaning process and allow the next participants entry.

Gymnasium / Basketball Courts
The gymnasium is open for casual member use only and the hours and time slots available will vary. Reservations are required for casual use. Time slots are 1 hour long.
