Israel Art Competition at the J
If you have a passion for art this contest is for you! Submit your work of art inspired by Israel for its 72nd birthday and immediately enter the competition!

  • The competition is divided into three age categories: 7 and under, 8-15 and 16+ (including adults)
  • Competitors can submit any form of art - painting, sculpture, video, music, short story etc.
  • Submit to:

72 Fitness Challenge

Celebrate 72 years of Independence for Israel with this fitness challenge! Try to complete 72 repetitions of a specific exercise (listed below) every day during Israel week. Those that complete it - honor system - get a certificate of completion. Come join in on the fun! Everyone is welcome to join and modifications are given if needed.

Wednesday, April 22 - Squat
Thursday, April 23 - Push ups
Friday, April 24 - High knees
Sunday, April 26 - Alternating lunges
Monday, April 27 - Crunches
Tuesday, April 28 - Jumping jacks
Wednesday, April 29 - Burpees

Yom HaZikaron - Mental Health in the Israel Defense Force
To commemorate Israel’s Remembrance Day and as a precursor to Mental Health awareness month in May, we are holding a couple of programs about Mental Health within the Israel Defense Force.

  • Movie Opportunity: “When the Smoke Clears”
    Watch the movie “When the Smoke Clears” on Amazon Prime and join our talk about mental health. The movie follows young Israeli soldiers who must overcome physical and mental injuries to find the strength to live their everyday lives.

  • Mental Health in the IDF with Sara-Lee Elazar, a former IDF Mental Health Officer
    Join us for a talk about PTSD in the IDF, to learn about the ways the Israeli military is facing challenges of mental health among its soldiers.
    Sara Lee Elazar, a social worker, served as a Mental Health officer in several IDF units over a period of 6 years.

Tekes Yom HaZikaron - Commemoration Ceremony

A ceremony in remembrance of Israel Defense Forces fallen soldiers and victims of terror attacks in Israel. The Ceremony is in Hebrew followed by English subtitles. The program will start with a Siren of Silence.

Community-Wide Yom HaAtzmaut Celebration “Around the Table”
Join us for a new and exciting community-wide celebration for Israel’s 72 independents day! Yom HaAtzmaut “Around the Table” offers a family experience as part of a wider community experience. Register for free to get a booklet emailed to you and participate in this special pre-dinner program hosted by the MJCC. The event is for everyone- Families, teens, and adults!
