MJCC Day Camp in Memphis Celebrates a Fabulous 75th Birthday with Over 650 Campers!

Seventy-five summers of friendship, fun, and unforgettable memories! This year, the Memphis Jewish Community Center (MJCC) Day Camp marked a major milestone with a joyful celebration of its 75th birthday — and it did so in true MJCC style, with over 650 campers filling the campus with energy, laughter, and excitement.

To celebrate this historic anniversary, MJCC Day Camp pulled out all the stops. Campers enjoyed special events throughout the summer including retro-themed dress up days, lip-sync battles, birthday party celebrations, and an Alumni Shabbat to Celebrate the 75th year with one Alumni present who was a counselor the first year that MJCC Day Camp began!  Alumni, staff, and families joined in the festivities, reflecting on decades of MJCC memories while making new ones together.

“This is more than a camp — it’s a community,” said Camp Director Juliana Kaitibi. “Celebrating 75 years with over 650 amazing campers this summer shows just how strong and special the MJCC Day Camp tradition really is. We’re proud of our history and thrilled about the future.”

This summer’s programming offered a perfect blend of classic camp activities and fresh new experiences. Campers swam, danced, explored nature, created art, tried their hand at science and sports, and deepened friendships that will last long after the final camp wide Shabbat. True to MJCC’s values, the camp continues to emphasize personal growth, Jewish identity, inclusion, and community connection.

As MJCC Day Camp wraps up this remarkable season, it does so with hearts full and eyes toward the future. The spirit that began in 1950 remains alive and well — growing stronger with each summer.
