A message from Larry Skolnick, CEO/President of the MJCC:
As I have conveyed in my other communications to you, the COVID-19 situation is a fluid one, and one that is rapidly evolving and changing. We are regularly monitoring the latest information and recommendations from a variety of sources. The MJCC Board of Directors met this afternoon and we have made the difficult decision to close the MJCC facilities and campus effective at the close of business today, Sunday March 15, 2020, and are planning to reopen on Monday, March 30 at 5:30 am. We will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate with you again in advance of our planned reopening on Monday, March 30.
I know that you can appreciate the difficulty of this decision as we balance serving our members with being proactive in the interest of public health. Everyone’s health, safety and well-being is always the primary concern of the Memphis Jewish Community Center and at this time we have determined that doing our part in the interest of proactive public health is of paramount importance.
Please note that Fogelman Jewish Family Service will be open for business with staff operating remotely from home and we are here to serve and help you during this time. If you need assistance from FJFS they can be reached beginning tomorrow morning March 16 until we reopen on March 30 at (901) 471-9170 during normal business hours.
We are also experiencing a shortage with our kosher food pantry. If you are able to donate kosher shelf staple items or $25 Kroger gift cards to help those in our community who are experiencing food insecurity, we would greatly appreciate it. We will be accepting food and gift card donations tomorrow, March 16 from 9:00 am until noon at the FJFS entrance on the west side of the building. Thank you in advance for your donations.
Holy Cow will not be operating the kiosk inside of the MJCC but they will offer to go food that can be picked up between noon and 1:30pm Sundays through Fridays from the loading dock on the west side of the MJCC. They will have an order site online HERE . Order deadlines will be 9:00am each morning. You may also order meals to go from Holy Cow by calling (901) 598-1152.
As always we appreciate your support of and commitment to the MJCC and we look forward to seeing you when our campus reopens. Please continue to wash your hands and follow all recommended practices and protocols for staying healthy!
