For those children who turn 4 years old by August 15th of the current year.
Our Junior Kindergarten curriculum is designed to prepare each student to enter Kindergarten confident and ready both academically and socially. Our curriculum addresses the needs of all learners by using visual, auditory, and tactile techniques. Language, Math, Small and Large Motor Skills, Science, Self-Help Skills, and Judaica are all integrated in to the exploration of interesting themes. For those children who are ready to advance quickly, there are ongoing enrichment activities readily available.
Junior Kindergarten students participate in weekly enrichment classes:
- Physical Education
- Creative Movement
- Computer and
The Junior Kindergarten teachers utilize the Lippincott Phonics Program and the Letter People Reading Program. The goal of these programs is to systematically build independent readers. Math is taught utilizing the Everyday Math Program. There is a computer in each classroom that the children use either individually or in pairs. Not only does computer time provide opportunities for learning computer skills and practicing early literacy and math, but it provides great opportunities for promoting peer interactions.
