Our Kindergarten is a wonderfully unique program designed to meet and exceed all of the State of Tennessee standards for the year as well as instill in our five-year-olds a true love of learning. The curriculum is designed to prepare each student to enter first grade confident and ready both academically and socially. Ongoing enrichment is provided for children who are ready to advance quickly.
Kindergarten is an important transitional year for children – it is the bridge between preschool and elementary school. The MJCC provides a wonderful environment to support this transition to greater independence and a larger focus on academic learning. Children feel “at home,” safe, comfortable, and welcome within our nurturing early childhood environment. This security gives children the confidence to “tackle” an exciting and challenging curriculum and learn new skills and concepts.
Kindergarten students participate in weekly enrichment classes:
- Judaic Studies, Values and Hebrew Language
- Physical Education
- Creative Movement
- Art Appreciation and
In today’s world it is very important to expose children to computers at a young age. Computers allow children to work at their own pace and they are a great tool for individualizing instruction. Our Kindergarten Computer Curriculum, taught in our Computer Lab, is divided into 4 areas: Computer Skills, Creative Writing/Research, Language Arts skills practice and Math skills practice.
