The MJCC J-Ed series is an opportunity for our community to examine Jewish topics and themes through one-time sessions. We offer an open venue where we can inspect multiple subjects through a variety of teachers using a Jewish lens. We seek to understand our world better, share ideas, create community, engage curiosity, and spark conversation.

This year, as Memphis in May celebrates Canada, the Memphis Jewish Community Center is pleased to partner with Memphis In May to host both the Jewish Public Library of Montreal’s Exhibit – Stories Told: 100 Years of the JPL in the Shainberg Gallery and speaker, Eddie Paul, for the J-Ed Speaker Series.
Tue, May 3 at 7:30 PM
Eddie Paul, Head of Bibliographic & Information Services at Jewish Public Library (JPL) of Montreal
In this talk, Mr. Paul traced the origins of the JPL, the political climate that gave rise to its creation, and the evolution of the library through the 20th century to what it is today: A multicultural, multi-linguistic entity with collections ranging from 15th century incunabula (books printed before the year 1501) to e-books. His talk was a companion piece to the exhibit, Stories Told: 100 Years of the JPL, which is on display in the Shainberg Gallery throughout the month of May.
