All specialty campers swim twice a day; instructional swim in the morning and free swim in the afternoon. Within each specialty camp, campers are divided by age and ability, while following the same daily schedule.
LEGO® - Weeks 1, 6 and 7
Each week of LEGO® Camp will have a different theme that brings new LEGO® challenges, LEGO® games and awesome creations!
Superheros - Week 1
Up, Up and Away! Help save the planet with your LEGO® building powers in this exciting week of LEGO® Camp.
LEGO® World of Adventure - Week 6
Where will your imagination take you? To a LEGO® world of swinging vines and mysterious jungles or to a sea full of towering ships and treasure-seeking pirates? In your LEGO® world of adventure, anything is possible!
Advanced LEGO® (Grades 3–6) - Week 7
This week will bring bigger and more complex LEGO® challenges and activities along with LEGO® animation. For campers entering 3rd-6th grade.
Puppetry - Week 2
Campers will learn about how different types of puppets are designed and made, and the acting and character development techniques that bring them to life. Campers will create and bring home several types of puppets throughout the week and write and perform their own puppet shows!
Chess - Week 4
MJCC Chess Camp welcomes beginner chess players to a positive environment for fun, learning and achievement. Hand selected instructors have been trained by Grandmaster Alexander Stripunsky and International Master Jake Kleiman. Check out this noble game that Mid-South Chess considers an art, a science and a sport!
Fun & Fabric - Week 3
Campers design their own fabric through hands-on techniques including tie-dye, marbling, resist, stenciling, stamping and more! Campers will create their own t-shirts, challah covers and other no-sew fabric crafts with their creations.
S.T.E.A.M. - Weeks 2 and 5
Explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math in an exciting way! Campers will enjoy a variety of engineering challenges and cool hands-on activities, such as designing and constructing air powered cars, building batteries, launching balloon rockets, experimenting with chromatography, engineering basic robots powered by everyday household items and more!
Weeks 2 and 5 and will have different activities for twice the S.T.E.A.M. fun in one summer!
Circus - Weeks 6 and 7
Starfish Circus is back this summer for more circus fun. Aerial skills and acrobatics, balancing, juggling and clowning around are just a few of the fun things to look forward to! For two weeks, campers learn circus skills and routines, which will all culminate in a final circus show. Come join the Circus!
Performance for parents will be the evening of Thursday, July 20th and the camp performance will be Friday, July 21st.
Theatre - Weeks 3 and 4
Act, sing, and dance your way through summer with Theatre Camp! Our experienced staff is dedicated to teaching students theatre appreciation, acting skills, movement and working on stage presence. Campers will end Theatre Camp with a performance for parents on Thursday, June 29th and for camp on Friday, June 30th.
Art - Weeks 5 and 8
Mr. Jerry is back for his 12th summer at MJCC Day Camp!
Sculptures - Week 5
Campers will focus on creating their own larger, multi-step sculpture over the whole week and in addition, a few smaller works of art.
Printmaking and Collage - Week 8
This week will focus on linoleum block cut printing and incorporate different collage techniques.
Rock - Week 8
Have a ROCKIN' good time at this year's JCC Rock Camp! Campers will get the chance to play different instruments and rock out to some of their favorite songs. If your camper has played an instrument for years or never at all, we have a spot for you. This camp is designed to make music fun and you never know who may stop in and play a few songs.
